What are Emotional Freedom Techniques and how can they help me?

EFT is a complementary therapy. It does not replace normal medical or psychological treatments but it can act to complement and amplify their healing effects. It can sometimes bring relief for conditions that western medicine seems unable to help and is also brilliant for toning down the side-effects of some medications.
EFT is a combination of rhythmic tapping on acupressure points with targeted affirmations. The words, supplied by the client, are tailored to target the problem as specifically as possible while the tapping smooths out energy flow through the meridian (energy flow) network of the body. The results can be rapid and quite amazing and it has a cumulative effect. Each issue addressed helps to reduce your overall stress level. Life becomes easier and freer with every session as you lose your fears, phobias and limitations. Extended work with EFT (either self-work or deeper level work with an EFT practitioner) can result in huge, beneficial shifts in how you feel and think about yourself, your relationships and your life in general.
The basic EFT process is easy to learn and use. It is taught as part of a one to one session or by attending a Level 1 training course. You can then use it on a self-help basis whenever an emotional issue, fear or phobia occurs in your life. You can also book one to one sessions with an EFT professional to extend the personal work whenever you are dealing with complex or deeply troubling issues which can be difficult to handle solo.
WHAT HAPPENS IN AN EFT SESSION?
- An intake form is filled in at the start of the session which covers the current problem plus relevant background information.
- An introduction to the basic EFT process is given
- Work begins on whatever issue the client perceives as the most important that time.
Some clients report that simple issues are cleared with one session of EFT. More complex issues may require more sessions. It is very rare for anyone to show absolutely no improvement with EFT and most people are amazed by its effectiveness. It really works and has been used successfully by thousands of people worldwide.
HOW DOES EFT WORK?
Every emotional upset you ever experience is stored in the subconscious mind. Remembering the incident, or having something happen which is similar will trigger the memory and also the emotional charge which is attached to it. This manifests as interference in the normal energy flow through the body which feels “bad” in some way (either physical or emotional). EFT tapping accesses the energy flow routes (meridians) while the interference is present i.e. while you are thinking of the issue.
Scientific studies now demonstrate that EFT has real and significant effects. It has been shown to decrease levels of stress hormones in the body, change the functioning of the emotional processing centres of the brain and also affect physical function right down to the cellular and DNA levels. EFT has also been shown to outperform counselling, CBT and EMDR in some areas of work.
